The Take Charge Europe campaign is run jointly by E-Mobility Europe and ChargeUp Europe. For the purposes of the GDPR we are joint controllers of the personal data described in this notice: we decided together what to collect and why.
Both organisations run this website jointly, and either can be contacted about anything in this notice. Whichever you write to will be able to help.
You can reach us at Secretariat@chargeupeurope.eu.
This notice explains what we do with personal data collected through this website — specifically when you register for the Take Charge Europe Summit, when you sign the Take Charge Europe pledge, when you ask us to keep you close to the campaign, and when we invite you to take part.
What we collect. Your name, job title, organisation and email address. If you tell us, we also record any dietary or access requirements, whether you are registering on someone else’s behalf, and the names, email addresses and organisations of colleagues joining you.
Why. To reserve your seat, send you the confirmation and calendar invitation, check you in on the day, and contact you if the arrangements change.
Our legal basis. Processing is necessary to provide something you have asked us for — a place at an event (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We do not ask for your consent to do this, because consent is not the right basis for it: you asked to attend, and we cannot register you without using your details.
Dietary and access requirements. These can reveal information about your health or beliefs, which the GDPR treats as a special category. We pass them to the venue and caterer without your name attached, so that they can cater and accommodate you, and we delete them after the event. You choose whether to tell us, and by telling us you explicitly consent to our using the information for that purpose (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw that at any time by contacting us, though we may not be able to accommodate a request we no longer hold.
What we collect. Your name, job title, organisation, email address, and your organisation’s logo if you provide one.
Why. To add your organisation to the Take Charge Europe pledge and to contact you about it.
This one is published. Signatures are part of a public statement. Once a signature has been reviewed and approved, the organisation name, the signatory’s name and job title, and the logo appear on this website and in the published pledge document. Email addresses are never published. If you want your signature removed, contact us and we will remove it from the website; we cannot recall copies of a document that has already been distributed.
Our legal basis. Our legitimate interest in presenting a public statement made by the organisations that chose to join it (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and yours in having your organisation’s support recorded accurately. You gave us these details for exactly this purpose.
What we collect. Your name, job title, organisation and email address, if you use the form on our home page to ask us to keep you close to the campaign.
Why. To send you campaign updates — progress on the pledge, news about the Summit, and the moments where your support counts. Nothing else: these details are not published, and signing up for updates does not add you or your organisation to the pledge.
Our legal basis. Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) — you asked us to stay in touch. You can change your mind at any time: reply to any update or write to us, and we will stop and delete your details.
If we invited you. We wrote to you because of your role at an organisation in Europe’s electric mobility sector. Your name, role, organisation and business email address came from our own records — for example because you or your organisation signed the previous Take Charge Europe open letter — from our membership records, or from publicly available sources. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in contacting senior figures in our sector about an initiative relevant to their work (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can ask us to stop at any time.
If a colleague registered you. Someone attending the Summit may have given us your name, email address and organisation so that you could attend with them. If that is how we came to hold your details, this notice is how we tell you (Article 14 GDPR). You are entitled to all the rights below, including asking us to delete your details, and doing so will simply mean you are not registered.
We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with sponsors or other third parties for their own marketing.
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on legitimate interests — including the invitation that brought you here — you can object, and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to. Where we rely on your explicit consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Write to us at Secretariat@chargeupeurope.eu and we will respond within one month.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to a data protection authority — in Belgium, the Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be), or to the authority in the country where you live or work.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no third-party scripts on this site. Browsing it sets no cookies at all.
If you follow a personal invitation link, the campaign pages set a single cookie that remembers which invitation you are using, so your details arrive pre-filled and you are never asked to create an account or sign in. It contains no personal data — only a reference to your invitation — and it is strictly necessary for the page to work, so it does not require consent. Clearing it simply means following your link again.
If we change how we use your details we will update this page and change the date at the top.
